“The 1/24 Custom General”
The Original A 1/24 Custom General. This scale project has a interesting story behind it. This project started out long ago. It was a build base on a real charger at the time that had went through many changes. This scale replica started out by being bought out at a local hobby shop called "Hobbiest Paradise" . That is also the very same place where the intro shots was also filmed at for the Model Car Builds channel on YouTube Media. The kit started out as a Revell 1969 Dodge Charger kit.
The build is planned to have a lot of detail put into it as its being built. The color Orange is a Custom Orange color with metallic mix into it. The Confederated Flag was also custom on the car with custom colors pick out. Meaning fun for the scale project itself. The whole build is Custom. Its a Custom General Lee after all. So after the kit was picked out by the early stages of Projects In Progress. The color was talked about by Projects In Progress & certain people involve. Then came the decals part. A few tries was made by a outside source that didn't work. So Projects In Progress decided to take an cut the decal apart & repaint the parts of the decal film. Then once dried, reinsert them back in place. This worked great!. But it did take some time though. Below you can see photographs of the scale build.
This here is the Start.
The interior tube doors was cut out by the back side of a exto #11 blade (BE CAREFUL doing this as one slip up can hurt ya!)
The Tan color Ivory that was used was by Krylon, which is a very good spray paint to use. As for the chrome molding/trim, it was masked of with masking tape. Sprayed Gloss Black by ColorPlace. as it was starting to dry Alclad 2 was used. That was used the Ash trays, trim, and window crank handles & door handles.
The center consol was done the very same way as well.
The croll bar here is made from 3/32 round stock.
A mock up to see how things would fit and also look.
The dash been detailed. The dash pads was sprayed with Ivory, while the panels was sprayed with Flat Black. The guages and center steering spokes was covered in Alclad 2. Horn button was covered in Ivory.
A mock up to see how things would fit and also look again. Plus two door bars was added.
Yes it has frame connectors under it, these was made by Projects In Progress. These doesn’t come with the kit.
The front end, front suspension was modified to have working BOTH Upper & Lower A-Arms. To do this the back of a Exto-11 blade was used to carefully scribe the parts out of the K-Member.

Dash in place in interior tube. Time for another mock up to see how things will look and fit. Now you can also see how the dash will be attached to the interior tube once finish.
Here is another mock up. But this time something new was added to the roll cage. The original mounts for the side bars had to be remove. Due to this new mounting was in order. This time it would be on the new roll bar pilliar bar of the cage section. A mock up was required to check for any fitment issues that there might be.
Here is the interior tube removed from the shell. 3/32 Round stock is used for the roll cage making here. Lock-tite liquid glue is also used
