“1/24 1974 Monaco Rosco’s Replica”
Back Home Page Next Page
Now here is a fun little build done back in around 2011. This build started out with a totaled out busted up Fury of a later year. The shell was bought at the local hobby shop. It under went a lot of modification to be turn into the 1974. At the time P.I.P was the second one to kinda scratch build in a way so to speak the year of the style. One other person of that time frame also had done it just before too.
It is a 1974 1/24 scale model of Dukes of Hazzard Sheriff Rosco’s patrol car.. it’s base off the 1st season of the TV series of the first 5 GA episodes. The model was custom built with open doors, a detailed interior. The decals came from the AMT Rosco’s kit.
(Yes once the original shell was done being built, a cast was done of it at the time).
Now the interior was also made as while with the shell, that of a 1974 Monaco too. Now the interior tube driver side front door panel was cut open with the back side of a #11 Exto blade.
Now the rear seat was really covered in a thin fabric that was bought at our local Wal-Mart. So was also the front seat just the same. To do this spray adhesive by Loc-Tite was used as while in 2 light coats. It was also used on the floor board to before Embossing Powder was used for the carpet effects. Plus a head light dimmer switch was also made by using round stock Evergreen.
Here is the dash piece and interior pieces but more detailed though an a few more test fits and mock up. Pieces coming to gather and being installed. The brown color is Krylon Nut Meg.
Interior work coming together now. Seat belts and cb cord and mic and roll bar are PIP products
Here is a PIP light bar, The speaker box has holes in it to resemble the speaker part, it was painted in gloss black and then cover in Alclad II. The sides was casted in resin and painted with Krylon Red & Blue paint. The foot legs are 18 ga wire.
The decals are not PIPs by no means.. The decals are MPC decals from the Rosco kit. The trim is Aluminum foil sprayed with loc-Tite spray glue on the dull side. A 5 minute wait time then easy cut out in pieces and applied and brush down. The grill spray painted with Metallic Aluminum by Krylon.
The three key pieces are here. the shell, interior tub, and the chassis. The chassis was detailed as while. It was also given a paint wash. Yes the front suspension does turn Left to Right. This is a curb side build.
Here is the final pieces all assembled and some more weathering was done to make the scale look like it was after those Duke boys on those Georgia muddy roads of Hazzard County.
